The derby between Atlético de Madrid and the real Madrid was marked by the suspension for more than ten minutes of the match by the referee Busquets Ferrer and as a consequence of the target launch. The young Balearic referee has been forced to apply the object throwing protocol that establishes three scenarios.
The first case is the mildest. When an object is thrown that is not theoretically dangerous and does not impact either the player, the public, or a photographer who is on the field or another person, the referee must go to the field delegate to notify him through the public address system and if possible through the stadium screens so that the sector from where the objects were thrown is told to stop and stop the incidents.
In the second case, when these incidents continue or an object hits someone, something more serious, the referee, to prevent a disturbance from forming on the field of play, will stop the match and order the teams to enter the locker rooms. There, together with the security coordinator, the situation will be analyzed and the messages will be repeated over the public address system. This is the one that was applied tonight in the Stadium Metropolitan.
The third scenario is when the situation is more serious with an impact from a blunt object on a player, referee or another person, the match will automatically be suspended. This decision does not have to be made by the referee, but the safety coordinator has the power to make it as well.
