One position that the Green Bay Packers could potentially draft with the 23rd overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft is a wide receiver. There will be some talented wide receivers available near the end of the first round. The Packers are looking for their number one wide receiver for quarterback Jordan Love.

Green Bay Packers Meet With Texas Longhorns Wide Receiver Matthew Golden At the Scouting Combine

Texas Longhorns wide receiver Matthew Golden (2) catches a pass during the second half of the Cotton Bowl Classic College Football Playoff semifinal game against the Ohio State Buckeyes at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas on Jan. 10, 2025. Ohio State won 28-14.

Longhorns wide receiver Matthew Golden could very well be drafted near the middle toward the end of the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft. According to Easton Butler, he said on his Twitter page:

“The Packers were 1/7 teams to meet with Texas WR Matthew Golden, per

@CJVogel_OTF“

It is not a surprise that the Green Bay Packers met with Matthew Golden. He is a wide receiver who could have number one potential. Golden was the number one wide receiver for the Texas Longhorns this past season. He caught 58 passes for 987 yards receiving and nine touchdowns, along with averaging 17.0 yards per catch.

He is 6’0″ and weighs 195 lbs. Matthew Golden has also met with the Arizona Cardinals, the Buffalo Bills, the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Los Angeles Rams, the Dallas Cowboys, and the Cincinnati Bengals. If Golden is available 23rd overall for the Green Bay Packers, there is a chance that they could draft him.

Potential Christian Watson Replacement

Texas Longhorns wide receiver Matthew Golden (2) catches a long pass for a first down near the end zone in the fourth quarter as the Texas Longhorns play the Arizona State Sun Devils in the Peach Bowl College Football Playoff quarterfinal at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, Jan. 1, 2025.

With Christian Watson potentially missing most of the 2025 season with a torn ACL, there is still no true number one in the offense. Romeo Doubs and Jayden Reed are nice number two wide receiver options on the roster, but they are not number ones.

Matthew Golden could become the number one target for Jordan Love in this offense. Golden was the number one option for Quinn Ewers and it worked well for the Longhorns this past season in college football.
