“Patriots’ Latest Mock Draft Surprise: The Top WR They’ve Been Waiting For!”

Posted on March 7, 2025 by ADMIN

The New England Patriots have a wide selection of different paths they could take at fourth in he 2025 NFL Draft.

An addition in the trenches, on either offense or defense, is a possibility. But Drake Maye’s development takes priority. To help him best, the Patriots can target a wide receiver.

In the latest Athlon Sports 4-Round Mock Draft , the Patriots select Tetairoa McMillan, a wide receiver out of Arizona.

With Travis Hunter and Abdul Carter going in the first three picks, McMillan becomes the most intriguing name on the board for the Patriots.

Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel identified wide receiver, and specifically an “X” or true number one option, as one of the top needs in the offseason. Whether it’s through trade, free agency, or the draft, the Patriots are likely to address the wide receiver room.

The fit between McMillan and the Patriots makes a ton of sense. Maye and the Patriots get a young wide receiver to bolster the offense, while McMillan immediately becomes the number one option in the offense.

An underrated aspect of this move is that it would pair the rookie McMillan with Maye in his second season, effectively tying the quarterback and wide receiver duo together as they develop.

Continuity is important in the NFL. It’s also a big boost for a quarterback to have a wide receiver they can trust. The duo of McMillan and Maye would be a combination of a trustworthy wide receiver and continuity for at least the next four seasons.

McMillan and Maye would give the Patriots an offensive foundation, something that’s been missing since the Tom Brady days.

McMillan is considered the top wide receiver in the 2025 NFL Draft class, and the Patriots land him in the latest Athlon Sports Mock Draft.
