The Winnipeg Jets have built a solid core in recent years, and now two UFA’s have already expressed a desire to return to the team next year and beyond.
The Winnipeg Jets finished the 2024/25 campaign as the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference, and after a big win in their first series over the St. Louis Blues, the team fell in six games to a fierce division rival in the Dallas Stars.
After coming into the year with Stanley Cup hopes, that was certainly a disappointing finish for them, and now, they’ve got some huge decisions to make this summer that could impact the team for years to come.
While all eyes will be on the free agency status of Nikolaj Ehlers and the teams potential pursuit of a top defenseman to play alongside Josh Morrisey, there’s also some smaller names that could be looking to return as well.
Pair Of Winnipeg Jets Looking To Re-Sign
On Tuesday, Haydn Fleury, who many consider a fantastic depth option for this team confirmed just that, as he revealed he and his family loved his time in Winnipeg and would love to return to the team for the 2025/26 campaign.
Perhaps a bigger name, Mason Appleton suggested a similar thought when he was asked, but at 29-years of age after being in Winnipeg for all but one season since 2018/19, he noted that given he has a family, he’d love some term on his next deal, and if he gets that in Winnipeg, all the better.
After coming so close to a deep run in 2025, the Jets are likely looking at much bigger names early in free agency and the trade period, but when it comes to filling out the depth of a roster that still has Stanley Cup goals moving forward, they could do much, much worse than bringing back both Fleury and Appleton.
