On Monday, final decision for De Jong

Posted on September 28, 2024 by ISRAEL

Hansi Flick confirmed yesterday that Frenkie de Jong is “close” to reappearing. The Dutchman has not played since Classic of the Santiago Bernabéu on April 21 due to persistent discomfort in his right ankle, which also left him without participating in the Euro Cup. Next Monday will be two weeks since his first partial training session with the group and it will be the day on which it will be decided after the session whether he will be included in the list for Tuesday’s game (9 p.m.) against the Young Boys in Montjuïc on the second day of the Champions League or his return is postponed for a few days until Alavés-Barça on Sunday the 6th. MD already announced last Sunday what dates were being considered for his return.

Depending on when he returns to the Barça team, the possibility opens up that Frenkie be summoned by Ronald Koeman for the matches of the Nations League in Hungary (Friday the 11th) and Germany (Monday the 14th). To the BarçaLogically, it would be in his interest if he did not go with the ‘oranje’ to avoid wear and tear from intense training, matches and trips before facing a tough stretch of the season with Seville, Bayern and Madrid as rivals after the league break.

This Sunday, interview on Barça One

While, De Jong will break the silence this Sunday in an interview with Barça One in which he will comment on his physical condition without ruling out that he does so about his salary, which has caused a lot of talk. His record is growing having deferred a large part during the pandemic. For this reason, in October 2020, he agreed to extend it from 2024 to 2026. Now he still has not said ‘yes’ to the Barça offer to renew, presented by the club ten months ago.
