Nick Kyrgios has again been on fire, this time for an attack on 16-year-old Cruz Hewitt, the son of former Wimbledon champion Lleyton Hewitt. The young tennis player, considered a rising star of Australian tennis, trained with the leader of the ranking and defender of the Australian Open title, Jannik Sinner, which became a spark for Kyrgios’s next sharp comments. The Australian also attacked Iga Świątek.

Nick Kyrgios overreaggerated, attacked teenager

Cruz Hewitt is preparing to compete in the Australian Grand Slam tournament, for which he received a wild card. The opportunity to train together with the world leader of the ranking was a great distinction for the teenager and an opportunity to gain experience. However, Kyrgios, known for his controversial statements, spared no criticism by posting an Instagram comment: “I love you, Cruz, but this is crazy,” adding an emoticon of crying face and a needle and heartbreak.

Fans think he’s overreacted

Kyrgios’ comments sparked outrage among fans who accused him of overdoing, attacking the young player. Cruz’s post, which also included his older photo with Sinner, was supposed to be a positive memory, and it became the reason for another controversy surrounding Kyrgios.

Attacks Sinner regularly

This is not the first time a media storm has been causing a media storm. His special dislike of Sinner has been going on since March last year, when Italy scored twice positive anti-doping tests, though it avoided suspension. Kyrgios openly criticizes the decision of the International Agency The Integrity of Tennis (ITIA), which purified Sinner with guilt.

“I have to be loud about this because I think that there are too few people talking about it. People are trying to sweep it under the carpet,” Kyrgios told the Brisbane media. “It was badly played in our sport. Two leaders of the ranking caught on doping – this is disgusting for our sport. It’s a terrible picture.”

He didn’t give up even Iga Świątek

The Australian did not limit himself to criticizing Sinner. His earlier statements about Iga Świątek, which also became the target of his unforgiving comments, aroused similar controversy. Kyrgios has repeatedly emphasized that his goal is to “tach the truth”, even if it is not met with approval.

“I know people don’t like it when I’m openly talking about certain things and I’m honest, but I have to do it,” he said.

The attack on a young Hewitt who has only made the decision to train together with Sinner shows that Kyrgios does not intend to soothe his tone, regardless of the age or status of the person he criticizes.
