Muniain drives San Lorenzo fans crazy with his double

Posted on September 28, 2024 by ISRAEL

Iker Muniain scored a double in his debut as a starter for San Lorenzo that served to tie the victory at home against Banfield (2-1). After two games jumping off the bench without seeing a goal, in his first in the starting eleven, the former Athletic Club forward scored two goals that gave the ‘Ciclón’ the fourth victory in the Argentine championship.

In front of a complete Pedro Bidegain stadium, Muniain converted his first goal from a penalty in the 29th minute. Banfield tied in the 48th minute through Bruno Sepúlveda, also a penalty.

At the end of the first half, Banfield was left with one less due to the expulsion of Cristian Nunez for a double warning.

The delirium

And at the beginning of the second half in the 51st minute, Muniain pushed to the net a pass behind Ezequiel Cerutti in the face of delirium from all the ‘Ciclón’ fans, who cheered him every time the Navarrese striker touched the ball.

In the 82nd minute the fans stood up to give him a standing ovation when he left the field of play to the entry of Sebastián Blanco.

“I feel at home”

“Many times you have to make decisions in life. Mine was to come play in the Argentine League. San Lorenzo gave me all the confidence, I feel at home here. I hope I can bring a lot of joy to this great club,” said Muniain, 31, after his great afternoon.
