The Alabama Crimson Tide are well represented throughout the NFL. There are many former stars who are playing at a high level and there are quite a few who could end up switching teams during the offseason.
One intriguing former Alabama player to keep an eye on will be wide receiver Amari Cooper.
Cooper started the 2024 season with the Cleveland Browns, but was traded to the Buffalo Bills ahead of the trade deadline. He will hit the free agency market this offseason and will have his choice of where to play the next chapter of his career.
Now, a new prediction has come out for where he will end up signing.
Our own Vinnie Iyer of Sporting News has predicted that Cooper will end up signing with the Chicago Bears. He believes that Cooper would replace veteran wideout Keenan Allen, who is also a free agent this offseason.
“The Bears can move on from Keenan Allen and replace him with the younger Cooper to better complement D.J. Moore and Rome Odunze with route versatility.”
While Cooper is an intriguing name and he has a long track record of productivity, his 2024 season was disappointing. He did not play close to the level that he has shown throughout the majority of his career.
In the 14 total games that he played, Cooper ended up catching 44 passes for 547 yards and four touchdowns.
There are some who are concerned that Cooper’s age, 30, played a factor. He could be heading into the final stage of his career. However, there are others who expect him to bounce back strong in 2025.
Either way, there will be plenty of teams willing to take a chance on him. The Bears could very well be one of those teams.
All of that being said, it will be interesting to see what the offseason has in store for the former Crimson Tide star wide receiver. Keep an eye on Chicago as a potential destination.
