Ex-Lions running back D’Andre Swift cut by Saints.

Posted on March 5, 2025 by ADMIN

The New Orleans Saints have released former Detroit Lions running back, D’Andre Swift, from their practice squad. Swift, who was drafted by the Lions in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft, spent three seasons with the team before being released during the offseason.

During his time with the Lions, Swift showed flashes of brilliance, showcasing his speed, agility, and elusiveness. However, he struggled to stay healthy, missing several games due to injuries. Despite his potential, Swift was unable to establish himself as a consistent contributor to the Lions’ offense.

After being released by the Lions, Swift signed with the Saints’ practice squad, hoping to revive his NFL career. However, it appears that the Saints have decided to move on from Swift, opting instead to go with other running backs on their roster.

Swift’s release from the Saints is a setback for the young running back, but it’s not necessarily the end of his NFL career. He still has the physical skills and talent that made him a promising prospect coming out of college. With hard work and dedication, Swift could potentially catch on with another team and revive his career.

It’s worth noting that the NFL is a highly competitive league, and teams are constantly evaluating and adjusting their rosters. Swift’s release is a reminder that even talented players can struggle to find their footing in the league.

As Swift moves forward, he’ll need to focus on staying healthy and continuing to develop his skills. With the right mindset and support, he could potentially find his way back onto an NFL roster and realize his full potential as a running back.

In the meantime, Lions fans will be watching Swift’s career with interest, hoping that he’ll be able to find success and fulfill the promise that made him a highly touted prospect coming out of college.
