Dylan Walker has officially joined the Parramatta Eels, signing a contract that extends through the end of the 2026 NRL season. This mid-season acquisition brings a seasoned and versatile player to the Eels’ roster.

A Strategic Move for the Eels

The Parramatta Eels announced the signing of Dylan Walker on March 26, 2025. Walker, previously with the New Zealand Warriors, was granted an early release on compassionate grounds, allowing him to return to Sydney. Eels General Manager of Football, Mark O’Neill, expressed enthusiasm about the addition, stating, “We’re excited to have a player of Dylan’s caliber join the Eels. Dylan is such a tough competitor who will suit our style of football and he will provide class and experience to our team” .

Walker’s versatility is a significant asset; he has played in various positions including center, five-eighth, and lock. His experience and adaptability are expected to bolster the Eels’ lineup as they aim to improve their standing in the league.

Compassionate Grounds and Family Priorities

Walker’s departure from the Warriors was facilitated by a mutual agreement, acknowledging his desire to return to Sydney for family reasons. Warriors CEO Cameron George commented, “We were keen for Dylan to stay until the end of the season but we appreciate why he needs to return to Sydney. We’ve really enjoyed having him at our club and he has given us tremendous service. He goes with our support and best wishes” .

This move not only benefits Walker personally but also aligns with the Eels’ strategic plans, especially considering the upcoming departure of Dylan Brown to the Newcastle Knights. Walker’s experience is anticipated to fill the impending gap in the team’s halves pairing .

Looking Ahead

Walker made his debut for the Eels in a thrilling 23-22 golden point victory over St. George Illawarra, showcasing his immediate impact on the team . As the Eels continue their campaign, Walker’s leadership and on-field versatility are expected to play a crucial role in their pursuit of success in the 2025 and 2026 seasons.
