Dallas’ Biggest Loss: $62 Million Star Could Bolt for NFC West

The Dallas Cowboys do not have much cap space to work with as of right now. However, even after restructures and cuts, they could lose a key free agent.

Osa Odigihuza has been a key player for the Cowboys for the last four seasons. He is now a free agent and is set up to sign a lucrative deal. Total Pro Sports’ Alex Hoegler predicted that Odighizuwa would leave the Cowboys and sign with the Arizona Cardinals.

“The Cardinals’ defense is devoid of game-changing talent outside of safety Budda Baker,” wrote Hoegler. “They don’t usually pay for top-end talent in NFL free agency, but a second-tier option like Cowboys defensive tackle Osa Odighizuwa should be in play here. Odighizuwa had a 2024 PFF run defense grade of 78.5, ranking 11th among interior defensive linemen. And with 11.5 sacks over the last three seasons, Odighizuwa would give Jonathan Gannon’s squad a well-rounded linemen to build the unit around.”

Odighizuwa had a career-high 5.5 sacks last season and was a great run defender. Spotrac projects him to sign a three-year, $62 million deal in free agency. The Cowboys are currently over the salary cap and will need to create room through restructures and cuts. However, even then they will likely use a lot of the money they save to help work out an extension with Micah Parsons.

Losing Odighizuwa would be a crucial blow to the Cowboys. He has 13.5 career sacks and 28 tackles for a loss in 63 starts in his career.
