Could DeAndre Hopkins Have ‘Surprise Resurgence’ With Chiefs?

Posted on March 3, 2025 by ADMIN

Patrick Mahomes’ weapons in the Kansas City Chiefs offense in 2025 could look vastly different with a trio of receivers set to hit the free agency market.

Juju Smith-Schuster, DeAndre Hopkins, and Marquise Brown will all be looking for their next adventure, but what if one or more returned?

Maybe a Hopkins return will happen with the Chiefs still in the Super Bowl bubble.

But should it?

He posted 437 yards and four touchdowns in his 10 regular season games with the AFC champs and showed on more than one occasion that he still has plenty of juice left in the tank.

For NFL.com’s Matt Okada, a career resurgence could happen for D-Hop.

“Set to turn 33 in June, Hopkins might simply be too far past his prime, but it’s also worth noting he dealt with a knee injury for much of last year,” Okada writes. “If there is a contender willing to invest in the potential future Hall of Famer, and if he enters 2025 fully healthy, there might be room for a surprise resurgence.”

While DeAndre didn’t have the best postseason with the Chiefs, he still had some tricks up his sleeve in the regular season.

Hopkins had games with 86, 56, and 90 receiving yards and two games with 30+ yards, in each of which he managed a touchdown.

So that is still some solid production. Let’s not forget that he came in halfway through the season from the Tennessee Titans, too. Maybe a return to Kansas City makes sense, but only if the money is right.

Hopkins is now familiar with the system and Mahomes, and the potential for what the veteran could do with a full offseason of work is enticing.
