Chiefs Make a Stunning Swap: Kansas City Trade Star Player to Land Franchise LT, and It’s a Game-Changer

Posted on March 8, 2025 by ADMIN

It’s the offseason and, more importantly, it’s mock draft season, y’all! While mock drafts typically aren’t as fun when your team has one dire need (for the Kansas City Chiefs, it’s a left tackle), it’s still interesting to see what different draft analysts have to say about your team in their mocks.

Well, it just so happens that a fascinating mock draft dropped on Friday morning that included Kansas City moving up from the 31st pick in the first round to the eighth pick in the draft. Tom Fornelli of CBS Sports had the Chiefs making that trade with the Carolina Panthers to move to the eighth pick to take Missouri’s Armand Membou.

Trading into the top 10 when you’re the second-to-last pick in the draft is rare but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t or won’t happen, especially when the team doing so is a Super Bowl contender with one glaring need.

“The Chiefs have serious issues at tackle and cash in a lot of chips to move up and address the issue with Armand Membou. Their championship window will be open as long as they have Patrick Mahomes, but with Travis Kelce coming back, this is something of an “all-in” move for the current roster,” Fornelli wrote.

Chiefs trade up for Armand Membou in latest mock draft

While, yes, the Chiefs would have to give up quite a lot to make this trade happen, would anyone in Chiefs Kingdom really be mad about the team swinging for the fences and acquiring an elite player at a position of need? I’m thinking no.

Membou would give the Chiefs their left tackle of the future and Patrick Mahomes would be able to be himself again. He wouldn’t be forcing throws or unable to do anything because of the lack of protection.

The big question here is if another team would really want to help the Chiefs out since they’re the villains of the league now. The Panthers could make sense as a trade partner since the two play in different conferences and Carolina would get a crap ton of draft capital and maybe a player in this deal.

It feels unlikely that this sort of trade will happen but count Chiefs fans in if it does.
