Breaking: Raiders Steal 6’2 QB with 78 TDs, a Prospect Many Thought will Go Round 1

The Las Vegas Raiders are in the market for a quarterback in 2025, and not only will the team explore its options in free agency, Las Vegas will also do so in the NFL Draft.

 

The problem is that the Raiders own the No. 6 pick thanks to a few meaningless wins at the end of the season and there are three quarterback-needy teams in front of them who could snatch the top-two quarterbacks in this year’s class, Miami’s Cam Ward and Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders.

And that’s exactly how things play out in the mock draft from The 33rd Team’s Ian Valentino, as he projects Sanders and Ward to end up with the Tennessee Titans and Cleveland Browns, respectively.

As a result, Valentino has the Raiders pivoting to running back Ashton Jeanty in the first round, and then Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe in the second round.

Milroe is one of the more polarizing quarterbacks in this year’s class. His upside is undeniable, as he offers plenty of arm strength and explosive mobility that has led to some experts mocking him in the first round.

However, there are other experts who not only think Milroe is a major project, they are skeptical about his ability to pan out in the NFL. As a result, those experts have Milroe coming off the board on Day 2 or later.

“Overall, Milroe possesses all of the physical tools to play QB in the modern NFL,” The Draft Network’s Keith Sanchez wrote before projecting Milroe to go on Day 2. “With the right development, he can become an impact quarterback in the NFL.”

Milroe hurt his stock with a poor showing at the Senior Bowl, but there is still time to help himself at the NFL Combine. Right now, we’d project him to go somewhere between Rounds 2 and 3.

If they strike out on Ward and Sanders, taking a swing on a developmental signal-caller like Milroe would make sense for Las Vegas, a team that desperately needs some semblance of hope for the future at the position. Ideally, the Raiders land Milroe in the third round or later to mitigate the pain if he doesn’t work out.

The Raiders could sign a veteran quarterback in free agency to offer another bridge option, along with Aidan O’Connell, and that would allow Milroe to sit for a year in order to develop in the hopes he can take over in 2026.
