BREAKING NEWS: Chicago Bears Legend Mike Singletary Returns as Co-Owner In a monumental announcement, Chicago Bears owner Halas-McCaskey family has officially declared that Mike Singletary, the legendary linebacker and long-time face of the franchise, will return to the organization in 2025 as a co-owner..…

In a monumental and historic move, the Chicago Bears have announced that franchise legend and Hall of Fame linebacker Mike Singletary is officially returning to the organization—not on the field, but in the boardroom.

The Bears’ ownership group, led by the storied Halas-McCaskey family, revealed on Wednesday that Singletary will join the team as co-owner, marking the first time a former player has been granted such a significant stake in the organization’s 104-year history.

“Mike Singletary is not only one of the greatest to ever wear the navy and orange, but a man whose leadership, integrity, and passion for the game continue to inspire generations,” said team chairwoman Virginia McCaskey in a statement. “Welcoming him back in this capacity is a full-circle moment for the franchise.”

Singletary, 66, played his entire 12-year NFL career (1981–1992) with the Bears, serving as the heart and soul of the legendary 1985 Super Bowl-winning defense. A 10-time Pro Bowler and two-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year, he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1998.

“I never stopped being a Bear,” Singletary said at a press conference at Halas Hall. “But to return in this way—to help shape the future of the team I gave everything to on the field—is beyond a dream. I’m honored, humbled, and ready to get to work.”

While details of the ownership agreement remain private, insiders confirm that Singletary will take on an active role in leadership decisions, mentorship, and community initiatives. The move also comes at a time when the Bears are undergoing a major transitional period, with a new stadium project underway and a promising young roster looking to recapture championship glory.

Fans across Chicago and the NFL are already celebrating the announcement as a long-overdue reunion between the Bears and one of their most revered icons.

As the city buzzes with excitement, one thing is clear: the Monsters of the Midway just gained their fiercest leader—again.
