In a heartfelt nod to baseball history, legendary catcher Carlton Fisk took the field in a 1917 replica uniform as part of the Chicago White Sox’s “Turn Back The Clock” promotion. This special event celebrated the final season at the original Comiskey Park, a beloved ballpark steeped in over eight decades of baseball tradition.

The White Sox donned throwback uniforms from 1917, the year they last won the World Series at Comiskey Park. The uniforms featured a classic, minimalist design—white with dark pinstripes and an old-fashioned “Sox” logo stitched boldly across the chest, echoing the days of Shoeless Joe Jackson and the early giants of the game.

Fisk, one of the most iconic figures in White Sox history, added a powerful emotional layer to the occasion. Known for his fierce competitive spirit and leadership, Fisk’s appearance in the vintage uniform bridged generations of White Sox fans—connecting the club’s storied past with its modern-day heroes.

The promotion was more than just a fashion statement; it was a tribute to 1917, a pivotal year in White Sox lore. That season, under the management of Clarence “Pants” Rowland, the team finished with a 100–54 record and defeated the New York Giants in six games to claim the championship—just two years before the infamous Black Sox Scandal.

Fans packed the stands for a chance to glimpse the past, and the game day atmosphere was filled with nostalgia. Everything from the scoreboard graphics to organ music and promotional giveaways embraced the early 20th-century theme.

As Comiskey Park prepared to close its gates for the final time at the end of the 1990 season, the “Turn Back The Clock” game offered a fitting farewell—honoring not just the stadium’s storied walls, but the enduring spirit of the White Sox franchise.
