Hindsight is 20/20 when it comes to the NFL Draft.

History of the event is chock full of instances where a team could have selected a certain all-world player but passed on the opportunity only to fail with the pick they made.

Bill Belichick made a lot of good decisions as the former head coach of the New England Patriots.

During his 24-year career with the organization, Belichick is well-known for selecting quarterback Tom Brady in the sixth round of the 2000 NFL Draft.

However, in the last few years of Belichick’s tenure in New England, he was known more for his misses as the team’s top personnel director.

His final four seasons with the Pats saw the franchise reach the postseason only once.

Belichick is also known for tabbing former Alabama quarterback Mac Jones in 2021 as the heir apparent to Brady.

As every football fan knows by now, that didn’t work out so well.

In a new book by Belichick titled “The Art of Winning: Lessons from My Life in Football,” the coach revealed that he made a mistake not drafting current Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson.

Jackson was the final pick in the first round, 32nd overall, of the 2018 draft by Baltimore (it is worth noting that New England still had Brady on the roster and the team won a world title that year).

Belichick and the Pats selected tackle Isaiah Wynn from Georgia with the 23rd overall pick.

Wynn played four years in New England before signing with Miami before 2023.

Jackson has since taken the Ravens to the playoffs every year but 2021 and to the AFC Championship game in 2023
