Bears Acquire Ex-Lions Guard Jonah Jackson in Swap with Rams

Posted on March 5, 2025 by ADMIN

After just one year in California, former Pro Bowl guard Jonah Jackson is heading to Chicago, where he’ll reunite with a familiar face.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Los Angeles Rams are trading Jackson to the Chicago Bears in exchange for a 2025 sixth-round pick. As per the offseason schedule, the trade cannot officially be processed until March 12.

The Bears will also absorb Jackson’s $17.5 million salary for the upcoming season.

Jackson’s move to Chicago brings him back together with new Bears head coach Ben Johnson, who coached him throughout his entire time with the Detroit Lions—first as an offensive assistant, and then as offensive coordinator.

If Jackson remains healthy, Chicago adds a veteran offensive lineman well-acquainted with Johnson’s system, providing a significant boost to the offensive line.

The 28-year-old was a third-round pick by the Lions in the 2020 NFL Draft and spent his first four seasons in Detroit.

Jackson started every game during his first two seasons, earning his only Pro Bowl selection in Year 2. However, injuries began to accumulate in his final two years with the Lions.

Last offseason, Jackson left Detroit to sign a three-year, $51 million contract with the Rams. But injuries once again limited his playing time, with a fractured scapula in Week 2 sidelining him.

He was placed on injured reserve and later activated for Week 10 against the Miami Dolphins.

Afterward, he missed several more games before returning for the regular-season finale against the Seattle Seahawks. He also played in two postseason games for the Rams.
